River Cruises

Take a Lighthouse or Nature Cruise   

From mid-June to mid-October, Maine Maritime Museum conducts a variety of regularly scheduled river cruises that focus on viewing lighthouses in the area or experiencing the natural setting along the Kennebec River and connecting waterways. The cruises are of varying lengths - from one hour to five hours.  

The Museum also conducts several special and one-time cruises during the season.

All cruises are aboard the Maine-built wooden boat Schoodic, which has a 40-passenger capacity.

Great Ships & Lighthouses cruise (1 hour) - Daily at noon & 2 pm

See Bath Iron Works, two lighthouses and abundant wildlife.
Members $20; nonmembers $25; 6 to 16 years $10 (all fees include Museum admission)

Six Lighthouse cruise (3 hours) - Thursdays & Sundays at 3:30 pm
A visitor favorite.  See six of Maine's most beautiful and unique lighthouses. Bring your camera for incredible photos.

Seven Lights, Hells Gates Cruise (3 hours) - Wednesdays & Fridays at 3:30 pm
Cruise by Bath Iron Works, then pass through Hells Gates on the Sasnoa River to the historic Sheepscot River to the Kennebec River. You get close-up views of seven lighthouses.
Members $30; nonmembers $35; 6 to 16 years $15 (all fees include Museum admission)

Lighthouse Lovers Cruise (4 hours) - Saturdays at 3:30 pm
If you love lighthouses this is the cruise for you. See 10 beautiful lighthouses during this cruise.

Extraordinary Wildlife of Merrymeeting Bay (3 hours) - Mondays at 3:30 pm
If you're a nature lover, take this incredible cruise. Merrymeeting Bay is a unique ecosystem teaming with wildlife - bald eagles, osprey, Atlantic sturgeon, harbor seals and more.

Limited Schedule and Unique Cruises 

 
Beacons of Boothbay cruise (5 hours) - Thursdays 2:30 pm (June 28, July 26 & August 30 only)
Through Hells Gates to the Sasanoa River into Haockomock Bay to the mouth of the Sheepscot River to the Kennebec River. Six lighthouses on the route, then debark at Burnt Island Light in Boothbay to explore the lighthouse, the keeper's house and meet the family.

Windjammer Days Cruise (6 hours) - June 27, 10 am
A unique opportunity to be at sea right in the middle of Maine's famous fleet of Windjammers. A truly incredible photo opportunity of a remarkable spectacle.

Fireworks Cruise (2 hours) - July 7, 8 pm
Cruise Bath's waterfront and watch the annual Heritage Days fireworks display from the best seat - on the river.
