A Shot Across the Bow: Hidden Stories from the Sea
February 21
5:30 p.m. 6:30 p.m. Lectures & Book Talks
Anastasia Weigle spends countless hours documenting the memories of Maine's maritime men, women and children from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Within these collections are stories of adventure, joy, hardship, sadness, despair, death and love that bind families together even at great distances. She will share her experience as an archivist and how she finds the hidden stories within the collection the have what she calls, “the emotional value” — the stories that connect us to the people of our past.
Enjoy an evening of conversation with Anastasia, Project Archivist for the Maine Maritime Museum, as she recounts several hidden stories within the Museum’s maritime collection.
