Buoys Wanted for Maine's Largest Lobstering Exhibit

January 20, 2015

Are you one of Maine’s nearly 6,000 licensed lobstermen? Then Maine Maritime Museum wants to include YOU in the story of Lobstering & the Maine Coast, our renovated and expanded exhibition about the lobster fishery, opening summer 2015. Here’s how it works:

There are no hard and fast rules. If you want to try this as a short cell-phone video while you’re working, we’d love to use it. If you have family to include, bring them in on it. If you have a good story you want to tell, or something about lobstering that you want to get across to our 60,000 annual visitors, now is your chance. Our goal is to work up a series of mini-portraits that show the wide diversity of the hard-working folks in this fishery.

Buoys can be left with your MLA zone reps or at the MLA table at the Fishermen's Forum (March 5-7) or dropped off at the museum: 243 Washington St. in Bath. Photos and videos can be easily uploaded at www.dropitto.me/mainemaritime using the password "lobster." Or, share them on our Facebook page (facebook.com/MaineMaritimeMuseum). Questions? Contact Curator of Exhibits Chris Hall (hall@maritimeme.org) or 443-1316 x326 for details.
