We officially declare May 14 the start of the 2022 summer season! Featuring free admission, discounted cruises, and guided tours, Community Day kicks off with members from each decade of the museum’s 60-year history raising the flags over the Wyoming evocation and a cannon salute at noon. Visitors can enjoy an afternoon cruise aboard Merrymeeting for a narrated one-hour cruise past Bath Iron Works or the afternoon Lighthouse Lovers cruise with an opportunity to see up to 10 of Maine’s most obscure lighthouses. Community Day also marks the first day of our historic shipyard tours, traditional skill demonstrations, and the opening of the Victorian Donnell House for the season.
Maine Maritime Museum’s Community Day will be held on May 14, kicking off the 2022 summer season.
Founded in 1962, the Maine Maritime Museum sits on a beautiful 20-acre campus on the banks of the Kennebec River, and is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of Maine’s maritime heritage and culture. The museum recently eliminated admission fees for visitors under 18, and joined the “Museums for All” initiative to provide free admission to visitors with electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards.
