Mariners Adventure Camp: Week 1, Shipyard Ecology (Sold Out)

July 29 @ 9:00 am - August 2 @ 4:00 pm

Blacksmithing, coastal navigation, boatbuilding, sailing… There’s more to a mariner than meets the eye.

Give your child a chance of a lifetime to learn what it took to be a mariner in the Golden Age of Sail!
July 29 – August 2, 2024

In this week, campers will deep dive into the resource that supported the age of sail: wood. Come learn from professional boat builders about this traditional craft and how it shaped the Maine we know today. Through carpentry classes, science experiments, and exploration, campers will gain a better understanding of this important resource—all while having fun!

Traditional skill lessons with experienced mariners will include rigging, blacksmithing, navigation, knot-tying, treenail making, sea shanties, and more. Campers will work together to hone their craft and build a sense of community, teamwork, and leadership, much like would have existed on a 19th century ship.

We have a new camp registration system!

This year we will be using Campbrain to register your campers. Everything you will need for registration will be on this website: camper information, medical forms, waiver, photo release, and payment. Selecting the blue button below will bring you to our Campbrain website where you can create an account prior to registration opening. On February 16, you will be able to complete registration for your camper.

If you have used Campbrain before for another camp, use the same log in information.
