Welcome, Rozalia Project! On August 3, the Rozalia Project will be docking American Promise at Maine Maritime Museum for interactive tours and lessons. We hope you’ll stop by, it’s included with admission!

About the Rozalia Project:

Rozalia Project’s mission is to clean and protect the ocean and conserve a healthy, thriving marine ecosystem. Launched in 2010, the project focuses on addressing the problem of marine debris in a unique and action-based way using a combination of restoration (cleanups), prevention through education, embracing technology and innovation and by conducting solutions-based research.

May through October, the Rozalia Project operates from the record-breaking circumnavigator, American Promise, primarily in the Gulf of Maine, out of our summer expedition base in Kittery, Maine. Throughout the remainder of the year, we work from partner vessels and waterfronts nationwide. Rozalia Project is proud to have made American Promise the greenest sailing research vessel in the world using systems that recreational boaters can replicate including a Tier 3 Marine Diesel engine; solar, wind and hydro power to charge house bank batteries; foot pumps for the water system, using 100% biodegradable soaps, a zero trash overboard policy, eating vegetarian, not buying products with palm oil and more. 

Over the past thirteen years, the Rozalia Project removed over 1 million pieces of trash from our waterways, reached over 95,500 people of all ages and all backgrounds in direct programs all over the US, built an ongoing reach of 100,000’s more people through an active online presence and worked or are currently working with over 175 community and education partner schools and organizations.
