Kennebec Explorers Day Camp

Members $255; nonmembers $265; early pick-up/late drop-off available for $25 Our five-day summer camp will develop your child’s curiosity for nature exploration and all things nautical. Each of the seven sessions includes outdoor adventures, boat cruises, games, science experiments, crafts, beach trips and more! Small weekly camper groups, low camper-to-counselor ratios, and experienced educators make for an unforgettable camp experience. For students ages 6-12 years old. There are seven sessions of camp available: June 22-26; July 6-10; July 13-17; July 20-24; July 27-31; August 3-7; and August 17-21.Camp runs from 9 am-4 pm Monday through Friday, and early drop-off and late pick-up is available (8 am-5:30 pm) for an additional $25. Campers must bring a lunch.  A mid-morning snack is provided.  Campers should be prepared for indoor and outdoor activities each day.   This program is made possible thanks to support from the Merrymeeting Bay Trust.

  Looking for fun activities for kids? Fridays this summer from 10 am to 12 pm, join us for Port Pals, for a family-friendly tour of the world’s famous sea ports. Every Friday from July 10-August 14 we will feature a different port that Maine sailors visited on their journeys. Make crafts inspired by the cultures of New England, Panama, Peru, China, Indonesia, and France. Museum educators will be on hand to answer questions and provide an up-close look at objects from the museum's collection related to these places. Complete a craft and receive a stamp in your Port Pals passport! Port Pals is FREE with admission; and FREE for members. All sessions will be held outside in the museum's historic shipyard. There is a limit of four families per session and each family will have their own assigned tables and craft supplies. Tables can accommodate up to eight family members. Shipyards & Lighthouses Cruise Board the museum's comfortable cruise boat Merrymeeting to explore the lower Kennebec River where American shipbuilding began more than 400 years ago and continues today! Cruise up the river to Bath Iron Works and for spectacular views of the Navy's most advanced ships including the Zumwalt-class destroyers. Downriver, enjoy a water view of the museum's historic Percy & Small Shipyard, as well as an up-close look at two of the Kennebec River's famed lighthouses: Doubling Point Light and the Kennebec Range Lights.  There's something for everyone on this cruise! Members $31; nonmembers $38; child (6-12) $21; under 6 $6 Cruise fees include museum admission.The Merrymeeting's professionally trained crew provides fascinating narration and a safe, comfortable cruise.  A snack bar with beer, wine, soft drinks and light snacks is onboard. Guests are welcome to bring aboard food and non-alcoholic beverages. In accordance with state guidelines: • Online reservations are encouraged • Cruise capacity is reduced to 25 passengers per trip • Guests must maintain physical distancing of 6 feet while on board • Face coverings must be worn while on the main deck or when physical distance cannot be maintained • Out-of-state passengers must have quarantined for 14 days prior to boarding the vessel or have negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving in Maine. Residents of Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont are exempt from this requirement.
