In honor of Maine's bicentennial, Maine Maritime Museum and Bath Iron Works have partnered to celebrate Maine's incredible shipbuilding heritage! Sunday, August 2, and Friday, August 21, from 10 am to 2 pm, join us at the city dock at Waterfront Park in Bath -- the City of Ships - for FREE tours of the museum's flagship: the 1906 schooner Mary E. Learn about the history of shipbuilding on the Kennebec River as on-board docents tell stories from Mary E's colorful past. Shipyards & Lighthouses Cruise Board the museum's comfortable cruise boat Merrymeeting to explore the lower Kennebec River where American shipbuilding began more than 400 years ago and continues today! Cruise up the river to Bath Iron Works and for spectacular views of the Navy's most advanced ships including the Zumwalt-class destroyers. Downriver, enjoy a water view of the museum's historic Percy & Small Shipyard, as well as an up-close look at two of the Kennebec River's famed lighthouses: Doubling Point Light and the Kennebec Range Lights.  There's something for everyone on this cruise! Members $31; nonmembers $38; child (6-12) $21; under 6 $6 Cruise fees include museum admission.The Merrymeeting's professionally trained crew provides fascinating narration and a safe, comfortable cruise.  A snack bar with beer, wine, soft drinks and light snacks is onboard. Guests are welcome to bring aboard food and non-alcoholic beverages. In accordance with state guidelines: • Online reservations are encouraged • Cruise capacity is reduced to 25 passengers per trip • Guests must maintain physical distancing of 6 feet while on board • Face coverings must be worn while on the main deck or when physical distance cannot be maintained • Out-of-state passengers must have quarantined for 14 days prior to boarding the vessel or have negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving in Maine. Residents of Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont are exempt from this requirement.

The namesake of our cruise boat, Merrymeeting Bay is a unique confluence of six Maine rivers, all converging to form a truly rare ecosystem. Pass through the swirling eddies of Chops Point into the serenity of the bay, one of the best places in the state to view bald eagles and waterfowl. Sunday, 3:30 pm, May 17-October 4.
