As your tour the interior, docents will introduce you to the Donnells, one of Bath’s shipbuilding families. The house that stands today reflects the fortune that the family patriarch, William T. Donnell, made from his company. The interior of the home is set in period décor including numerous items that belonged to the family.

Cashes Ledge: Maine’s Lost World

February 23, 6:00 p.m. | This lecture will provide deep insight into Dr. Steneck’s extensive research on Cashes Ledge in the Gulf of Maine, which, when he observed it, was as close to Maine’s pristine ecosystem prior to European arrival as one could find. Learn how Cashes Ledge, a nutrient-rich ecosystem 80 miles off the Maine coast, has survived when many other marine ecosystems suffer the effects of warming waters and human activity.

Come learn about a sailor's life on boats and one of their most popular activities during times of stillness—scrimshaw. visitors will explore the different examples we have on collection and try their hand at their own designs. Come explore the microscopic world of plankton. The basis of our food web and responsible, in part, for the air we breathe, these microscopic organisms can be found in the waters of the Kennebec. Learn how to collect them and find them under a microscope. Then, use your knowledge to create you own plankton model in a race to the bottom.
