Chris Timm, Executive Director
Chris Timm is Executive Director of Maine Maritime Museum, and previously served as Chief Curator and Director of External Affairs. His curatorial work focused on expanding the museum’s mission to consider globalization, cultural identity, and environmental themes. As Executive Director he now continues this work to expand the museum’s audience and civic mission. Prior to joining the museum in 2016, he was an instructor at Florida State University. Timm holds an MA in History & Archaeology from Queen's University Belfast, UK and spent his childhood gunkholing along the coast of Maine.
“I am delighted to start this next chapter with such an incredible team of museum professionals. And I am humbled to take this leadership role at such an important moment in the museum’s history, as it celebrates its 60th anniversary and looks forward,” said Chris, accepting the role of Executive Director in 2022. “Maine’s maritime story is ever changing, ever expanding, and global in scope and impact. I look forward to the work ahead as we develop an engaging, inclusive and visitor-centered museum with a strong civic mission.”
