Family Programs

STEAMBox Family Workshops

Through hands-on, age-appropriate activities and crafts, families will dive into maritime learning topics to discover new and exciting lessons about our world.

Held on Saturdays from 10:30 – 11:30 am, all STEAMbox Family Workshops are free to the public thanks to generous support from First Federal Savings. Content level is appropriate for ages 4 – 10, but all are welcome. Preregistration is required and opens one month in advance of the program.

Story Time with Splash

Join us at Maine Maritime Museum for an interactive story time! Sit among our exhibits as a museum educator and Splash, the friendly sea monster, introduce you to the wonders of Maine traditions, wildlife, and maritime themes.

Held once a month on Tuesdays from 10:00 – 10:30 am, all story time programs are free to the public. The content is recommended for ages 2 – 7 and registration is only required when hosting a special guest.

Beginning in May: Enjoy a Mini Mariner's Cruise at 11:00. This special 30-minute cruise is for our youngest sailors! These Tuesday morning mini cruises offer a view of the City of Ships and Bath Iron Works from the water; cruise under the Carlton Bridge, and into the Sasanoa River, where you might spot the ospreys and eagles that live in the area. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 17.

Toddler Time

Come enjoy some time dedicated to your little one! Join your toddler as they engage their senses through themed sensory bins, building and sorting activities, music, and more! This is a one-hour long, drop in event on select Tuesdays from 10:00–11:00 am. Included with paid admission.
