History, ecology, and adventure abound on the banks of the Kennebec River.
Our camps are full of memory-making experiences in the woods and on the water.
Kennebec Explorers (Wait List only for 2026)

This summer, Maine Maritime Museum will offer seven sessions of our five-day summer camp that will develop your child’s curiosity for natural exploration and all things maritime. With a different theme for each session, repeating campers will gain new experiences every week.
Campers will explore the ecosystem of Merrymeeting Bay and gain a sense of stewardship for this special place. Each week, campers will take part in field trips, boat cruises on the Kennebec River, games, science experiments, crafts, and learn from guest speakers.
Camp runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Early drop-off and late pick-up is available (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) for an additional fee.Rising 2 – 5 Grade Students. Limited spots available for rising 1st graders if attending with a sibling.

Mariners Adventure

Campers will spend their week exploring history through traditional maritime craft and skill such as carpentry, blacksmithing, sailmaking, navigation, and/or marlinspike seamanship, guided by industry professionals. The week will include an expedition to Bailey Island to sail a traditionally-rigged schooner and opportunities to practice leadership and collaborative decision making against the backdrop of the beautiful Kennebec River.
Camp runs from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Early drop-off and late pick-up is available (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) for an additional fee.
Available for rising 6 – 8 Grade Students.
