Dead Reckoning at Maine Maritime Museum is back, and more haunted than ever! Experience night at the museum during the spookiest time of year. Revisit old ghosts and prepare to meet some new ones đź‘»
The Dead Reckoning: Shipyard Death and Disturbances walking tour is now self-guided and available on-demand using the Bloomberg Connects app. Wander the shipyard at your own pace, engaging with blood-chilling audio stories (if you dare). Bring a flashlight!
Four new interactive experiences have also appeared on the shipyard! Begin at a pop-up exhibit in our Maritime History Building, then choose your own adventures from the following offerings:
The Carroll A. Deering Escape Room tasks you with solving the mystery of a Bath-built ghost ship. Search the wreck for clues and build your case to get out alive! Bring your best investigative team to put this mystery and its ghosts to rest once and for all. Warning: this activity includes a staircase.
Mysteries of the Mill gives you a chance to uncover some of the most gruesome and harrowing occurrences that have happened right where you stand. Warning: includes strobing lights.
Younger visitors can visit the Blacksmith shop to learn about, and extinguish, the Great Fire of 1913! Build a lantern craft in our cozy covered makerspace while one of our smiths demonstrates forging iron at night.
A limited number of spaces are available each night for seats at the seance table in Donnell House, the most paranormally active spot on campus. Call on our ghosts in their own living space and see areas of the museum not open to the public by candlelight. This activity includes two steep, narrow staircases in a historical home.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The Blacksmith Shop Makerspace is open to all ages. We do not recommend the other interactive experiences (escape room, mill, and seance) for visitors younger than middle school age. You know your child(ren) best, and unfortunately, we can not refund your ticket if it’s too scary.
-
With the exception of the all-ages Blacksmith Shop activity, this tour's multiple stories do include more graphic content such as gruesome injuries, blood, and death, as well as lighting effects. Ghost sightings are not guaranteed, but also not out of the question. While each person’s threshold differs, we caution those who are not comfortable with this type of content.
-
While visitors may spend as much or as little time in each interactive experience, it is recommended to plan to spend 45 minutes to 1 hour total in the shipyard if you wish to participate in all of the available experiences.

Unfortunately, due to the high demand of this program, we are not able to offer refunds or reschedules.
